Marco Rubio on O'Reilly Factor

Here's Senator Marco Rubio's appearance on The O'Reilly Factor from earlier tonight:

FoxNews | O'Reilly Factor | Marco Rubio in No Spin Zone

Rubio discusses the controversy surrounding the Washington Post article (see my posts here and here):

It's irrelevant to whether they're exiles or not. The day that I was born, in May 1971, my parents could not return to the nation of their birth, unless they were willing to live under communism...
They won't find a single, credible Cuban-American voice in Miami that will dispute that my parents are exiles.
Rubio and O'Reilly also chat about the situation in Libya and and the current GOP presidential race. Rubio has stated he is not going to interfere in the primary at this point, but he did have some positive things to say about Herman Cain:
Rubio: I'm in favor of a flat tax. I've always believed in simplifying the tax code and I think there are some plans out there to do that. But I'm encouraged that Herman Cain is offering his plan -
O'Reilly: It doesn't hurt to start there.
Rubio: Well, more importantly, it's now forcing other candidates to offer theirs, and that's a good thing. If we're going to have a debate in the Republican primary on ideas, you know, we're going to win this election in 2012...and that's what these candidates are allowing to have happen, engaging in an ideas-driven debate.
Exactly. Were any of the presidential candidates discussing throwing out the entire tax code and starting from scratch until Cain's 9-9-9 plan began making headlines? NOPE.

And note that Rubio rules out running for Vice President, once again, in very specific and pointed language...so may I respectfully suggest that my Florida friends who are supporting Romney because you "believe" he will pick Rubio as a running mate start considering other candidates? If you legitimately feel that Romney is the most conservative and best candidate, fine, but if you're motivated by the Rubio factor, I'm just saying you might want to start looking around a little bit...
