Liberals worried about cost of government regulations, LOL

We've spent the past few years watching conservatives argue that Obamacare would have disastrous effects on the health care system, in no small part because it imposes a massive regulatory burden on medical providers and insurance companies. Obama and his Democrat Congresscritters have discounted such concerns, characterizing this as a necessary sacrifice to provide health care to Americans.

We see a similar debate regarding environmental issues, where liberal environmentalists preach that the high cost of complying with an increasingly meddlesome and arbitrary EPA is a burden rightfully borne by those evil corporations. 

Now, after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed HB2 (Texas' new law restricting abortions after five months unless the life of the mother was at risk and requiring certain safety standards at clinics) to take effect, the media are reporting that "at least 12 Texas abortion clinics have been closed."

Isn't that just fascinating? I mean, not a single word in HB2 required any clinics to close, so what's happening here?

L.A. Times stoops to new levels to find racism in Obamacare opposition

The L.A. Times is finding hidden racism in a conservative position? Must be a day ending in "Y."

In an op-ed published on Sunday titled "Obamacare: New fight, old tactics," author Nelson Lichtenstein explicitly states that "[o]pponents of the healthcare law are following in the footsteps of Southern segregationists half a century ago."

How dare you want what's best for your child! At least the author is nice enough to clarify that pursuing educational opportunities for your kids is not quite as evil as murdering another person. Very generous of her.

This is cracking me up. Certain voices on the Left whipped themselves into a frenzy of outrage when RedState's Erick Erickson referred to Texas State Senator Wendy Davis as "Abortion Barbie."

Reality check: none of these people seemed to have any problem with similar insults being flung at Sarah Palin, and Davis is a very attractive, slender blonde who is known for wearing stylish clothes. I've heard more than one friend who's worked in the Capitol mention her seemingly endless collection of Louboutin shoes. Forgive me for thinking that this isn't really the Worst Insult Ever™.

Metahypocrisy at BuzzFeed

Sometimes the story isn't really the story...

Yesterday, BuzzFeed posted an article, "7 Things Democrats Would Have Freaked Out About If Bush Had Done Them."

Now, BuzzFeed isn't exactly known for being necessarily friendly to conservatives. Their treatment of a recent interview with Senator Marco Rubio drew criticism for its slanted portrayal of him, although Rubio handled it with his typical grace. Still, yesterday's post was a pretty vicious takedown of the Left's hypocrisy about certain foreign policy decisions by the Obama administration:

Another shameless power grab coming from MA Dems?

It's been an interesting time for me in Massachusetts this year, seeing the differences (the many, many, many differences) between that state and Florida. 

Both states have a legislature dominated by one party, but with wide variation in how much autonomous power the controlling party really has. When the Republicans who control the Florida House and Senate push their luck too far, the Florida press corps howl in protest and voters in even heavily-Republican districts tend to reject anything really outlandish (case in point: the failure of many of the constitutional amendments, which originated in the Legislature, on the ballot this year).

In contrast, in Massachusetts, when the Democrats try something nutty, it's met with shrugs  and mostly ignored as simply business as usual. At best, media outlets like the Boston Herald may cover a story here and there, but it rarely seems to slow down the Democrats' appetite for abusing government power.

What we can learn from Sen. Menendez's Dominican hookers (Yes, really.)

In case you missed all the excitement last night, the Drudge Report spent several hours teasing a story that eventually showed up at The Daily Caller, about how Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) apparently availed himself of the services of two prostitutes when he visited the Dominican Republic earlier this year.

Whoa. Scott Brown's campaign has come out with a new web ad that just eviscerates Elizabeth Warren's claims of fighting for the little guy. The ad focuses on Warren's legal representation of LTV Steel in a bankruptcy case in which coal workers lost their pensions and benefits, and some of the most damning clips are those that feature Warren herself:

I've been saying for awhile that every single Republican candidate needs to start every speech they make from now until November 6th with "By the way, Paul Ryan's Medicare plan doesn't change a darn thing for seniors 55 and older!" and then segue into whatever topic they actually wanted to discuss.

Jon Lovitz, Tax Expert? [VIDEO]

In an appearance on Piers Morgan's CNN show last night, comedian Jon Lovitz managed to expose the fallacy of the Democrats' economic policies in less than ten minutes.

In a series of rapid-fire comments, he went through his frustrations with President Obama's class warfare rhetoric, explained why capital gains are taxed at a different rate, smacked down the idea that raising taxes on the rich would solve all our problems, refused to give in to Morgan's repeated attempts to blame Wall Street for the economy, and blew apart the idea of the "1%" versus the "99%" that the Occupy movement promotes.

"War on Women?" Ha! Here on the right, we're having a grand old time.

One of the Left's favorite little fear-mongering games is to call conservatives "anti-woman," and accuse the right of attempting to "control women's bodies." Unfortunately for Obama's reelection hopes, the ladies just aren't buying it:

Last week at CPAC, we were shown a trailer for a new documentary about Andrew Breitbart called "Hating Breitbart," which the filmmakers describe as "the story of how one man with a website upended the traditional press and repeatedly found himself the target of a media feeding frenzy."

The film includes footage dating back to 2009, when Breitbart was attending some of the early tea party events, and of course lots of great coverage of his involvement in the crusades against ACORN and the takedown of Anthony "That's 5:45 in Seattle I think" Weiner.

Hypocrisy: (noun) From the Greek term for "Senate Democrats"

Today, President Obama appointed Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) while the Senate was in pro forma session. The CFPB is an unaccountable bureaucratic nightmare that was birthed from the Dodd-Frank bill, and Republicans are rightfully criticizing this latest abuse of power by the Obama Administration. 

The criticism of this appointment is warranted for several reasons:

WaPo attacks Rubio, gets smacked down by facts and history and logic and stuff

Yesterday I published a post debunking the Washington Post's false and defamatory attack on Marco Rubio, "Aggressively Stupid: WaPo Attacks on Marco Rubio." There was a lot of media attention on this story during the past twenty four hours, and it was overwhelmingly in support of Rubio and scathingly critical of WaPo.

At best, Rubio was imprecise in his description of family history that happened fifteen years before he was born. Quelle horreur! Seriously. That's all this faux-controversy is about. Ask me when my mother's family moved to Florida from Indiana and you'll get a "ummm...1955? 1956?" in response. Families share their stories with each other; they don't  exchange birth certificates and affidavits.
