Paul Ryan: America Deserves a Better Path [VIDEO]

Reason #7,519,078 why I love Paul Ryan: he gets it, I mean really gets it, regarding the financial crisis that our country is facing.

Watch this video that the House Budget Committee released earlier today:

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin previews next week's FY2013 budget proposal.
You know, I was here -- in Congress -- in 2008 when we had the economic crisis. It was a terrible time. Millions of people lost their jobs. Trillions of dollars of wealth: gone.

That crisis caught us by surprise.
Let me ask you a question: what if your President, your Senator and your Congressman knew it was coming? What if they knew when it was going to happen, why it was going to happen and more importantly, what if they knew what they needed to do to stop it from happening and they had the time to stop it? But they chose to do nothing about it, because it wasn't good politics?
What would you think of that person? It would be immoral.

This coming debt crisis is the most predictable crisis we've ever had in this country. And look what's happening.

This is why we're acting. This is why we're leading. This is why we're proposing - and passing out of the House - a budget to fix this problem: so we can save our country for ourselves and our children's future.

It has been over 1,000 days since the Senate passed a budget, and Harry Reid and his Democrat cronies have failed to bring one up for a vote, not even the one that President Obama submitted.

It is not difficult to understand that the federal government is too big, or that our $15 trillion (and growing!) national debt is a serious problem. The American people have a lot more common sense than many members of Congress, and they understand that spending more money than you have is not sustainable.

This is why the Left is so desperate to create distractions - to make this election about class warfare through the "Occupy" movement, getting a Georgetown law student/liberal activist to grossly exaggerate the cost of contraception to spark a "War on Women." They know they have committed a gross malfeasance of duty, and that there is simply no way to explain away these numbers.

My prediction: over the next few months, we will see an endless parade of ridiculousness from the Left, as they attempt to stir up one false controversy after another, to dig up new strawmen to blame, new victims who will plead for mercy, claiming their only hope for relief is rescue by Uncle Sam's checkbook.

Every single Republican running for office this year, up and down the ballot, needs to steel their spine, refuse to get distracted, and remember that the voters' priorities are focused on the economy, and that the Republicans have the common-sense answers that the American people want to see.

  1. Paul Ryan is awesome. Wish he were Speaker - I don't have a problem with Boehner but Ryan seems better at articulating the Republican argument and not backing down.
