We have lost a giant: RIP Andrew Breitbart (1969-2012) [UPDATED to include lots of links]
I received a phone call this morning with some incredibly sad news: that Andrew Breitbart had passed away.
I had gotten to know Andrew over the past year, and I am so sorry that more of you will never get to know what a warm, kindhearted, wonderful man he was.
He was incredibly generous with his time, and loved to sit and chat with anyone who wanted to get more involved in politics. Over the next few days you are going to hear many, many stories from conservative bloggers and activists who he personally encouraged (I've linked to some below - if you'd like your post linked, please post it in the comments or email it to me). The word I keep hearing this morning about him is "fighter," and he truly was.

Morning Coffee Reading for October 10, 2011
Today, we have a special "HĂ€agen-Dazs" edition of morning coffee reading for you, serving up a nice generous scoop of stories and videos featuring THE Herman Cain that you may have missed last week:
THE VILLAGES - The Republican presidential race has already seen the rise and fall in the polls of Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry. But the latest polling phenom, Herman Cain, insisted Wednesday that he has staying power.
"Unlike some of the other flavors of the week, I am Hagen-Dazs black walnut with substance," Cain said as he kicked off a national book tour here.
"That's the difference -- substance in terms of my economic growth and jobs plan, substance in terms of how I want to fix Social Security. Many of the other candidates are just talking generically about 'We need to fix it.' I am talking specifically about how we fix it, and that's what's resonating."

Yesterday, I drove over to St. Petersburg to meet up with Herman Cain's book tour for his book, This Is Herman Cain!: My Journey to the White House
.
After the book signing, Cain did several press interviews on his bus, and he had this message for his supporters:

Lawyered! Palin-defamer Joe McGinniss and Random House are in hot water
ICYMI, Joe McGinniss, the alleged journalist who moved in next door to Sarah Palin and then wrote an extremely negative book about her and her family is in a world of trouble. Last week, Andrew Breitbart's Big Government site broke the news that McGinnis had admitted in an email that his book was full of "tawdry gossip" and rumors without any "factual evidence."
Well, now Random House, the publisher of McGinniss' book, is joining McGinniss in the hot water. After it became clear that Random House was aware of the lack of factual support for the accusations in McGinniss' book, the Palins' attorneys sent a letter warning them to preserve evidence in preparation of a potential lawsuit:

Only $141,512.10 to go!
Senate President Mike Haridopolos justified his book deal with Brevard Community College by saying that the college would earn some money from the sale of the book.
Well, thanks to a public records request by liberal group Progress Florida, we now know how profitable the book has been for BCC:
Ouch. The book, which BCC paid Haridopolos $152,000 to write, has earned less than five hundred bucks.
So, hey, only $141,512.10 to go! (Somehow I'm not optimistic.)
Note also that Progress Florida has set up a mean little website called "Dirty Hari," where they are gleefully publishing this lack-of-a-profit report and other negative items about Haridopolos. Florida Republican primary voters should look through that website and ask themselves if they think this is the best candidate for us to send up against Bill Nelson. This is what they are publishing now - they certainly won't get nicer during the general election.
Well, thanks to a public records request by liberal group Progress Florida, we now know how profitable the book has been for BCC:
$487.90

Andrew Breitbart is going to save the world
The full title of Andrew Breitbart's latest book is "Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save The World!"
"Save the World?" I have to admit, when I saw that title, I rolled my eyes. I mean, I love Breitbart's websites and I cheered his role in the takedown of ACORN, but come on.
Andrew Breitbart says he's going to save the world...is he serious?
Well, after reading the book, I have to admit, yeah, he just might do it. As I turned page after page, the thought that kept popping in my head was a simple one: "Breitbart gets it, he really gets it."
