Florida Bloggers in the News

Lots of exciting developments for some of your conservative Floridian bloggers...

First, I just wanted to send a little note of congratulations to my friends, Central Florida bloggers Jonathon Torres and Frank Torres (no relation), who have both picked up political commentary gigs with television stations.

Jonny, who just started blogging this year at The Floridan (named after a famous Tampa landmark building), will be joining the Spanish cable news channel InfoMas during their coverage of the Republican presidential primaries.

Bright House Networks broadcasts InfoMas on channel 900 throughout the entire I-4 corridor. ¡Felicidades, Jonny!

Make sure to check out Jonny's blog at TheFloridan.net and follow him on Twitter at @JonnyTorres and @TheFloridan.

Fellow Orange County Young Republican Frank Torres has appeared several times with me to provide political commentary for WOFL Fox 35 Orlando, as seen in the photo (left) that Amy Kaufeldt took of us earlier this month.

Frank just announced this week that he has accepted a position as a political analyst with Central Florida News 13 during the 2012 election cycle.

It means that his blog, Florida Politics with Frank Torres, will be going on hiatus for a few months, but I'm sure we'll enjoy seeing him on Channel 13, and you can still follow him on Twitter at @franktorresnet.

As far as yours truly goes, I've been a recurring guest on Ed Dean Radio for awhile now, and actually managed to make a live studio appearance earlier this week when I was over on the East Coast, instead of just calling in like I usually do. Here's the UStream video from the show (I'm on starting at the 1:02 mark):

Ed Dean Radio Show | January 9, 2012

You can listen to Ed Dean Radio every Monday through Friday, 2 to 4 pm, at 90.3 FM on Florida’s East Coast, 89.3 FM on the West Coast), or online at EdDeanRadio.com.

Finally, I  received confirmation that my credentials as an Official CPAC Blogger have been approved for CPAC 2012.

I really enjoyed attending both the main CPAC conference in Washington, D.C. last February and CPAC's first regional conference here in Orlando in September. It looks like they have another great lineup of speakers this year, including Florida's own Senator Marco Rubio and Congressman Allen West.

CPAC will be February 9 through 11, and it's not too late to register. Hope to see you there! Make sure to stay tuned to Sunshine State Sarah  and follow me on Twitter (@rumpfshaker) for all the latest updates from CPAC!
